Streamlining homologation with seamless data integration
Challenge
A leading German automotive OEM utilizes a strategic data management platform to organize test and measurement data across various departments. Central to this platform is the Peak ODS Server, which facilitates standardized data exchange and management.
One department connected to this platform is responsible for conducting homologation tests—which are critical part of the vehicle development process. After these tests are executed on the respective test benches, an automated workflow must be triggered to generate the required certificates from the collected data.
The key challenge is to ensure seamless integration between the ASAM ODS Test Data Management system and the automated analysis pipeline to achieve efficient procedures.
Solution
To address this challenge, the following steps were implemented
- Data enrichment and validation
Before the collected data is ingested into the data management system, it needs to be thoroughly validated to confirm that all required data has been captured and meets the necessary quality standards. Additionally, metadata and derived data channels are created to enhance subsequent data workflows. This process is managed by the Peak Data Transfer Tool (PDTT), which features a modular data ingestion pipeline. - Data governance for lifecycle control
Given the critical nature of the data, it is stored in a way that ensures proper access controls and permissions. The Peak ODS Server, which implements the standardized ASAM ODS interface (API), enables secure data storage and provides information on the status of the data to ensure the necessary governance. - Automated certificate generation
Once data ingestion is complete, a status update triggers the execution of the analysis pipeline. This automated process generates the necessary intermediate data and the final certification documents. - Storing Results in context
To ensure that results are contextually accurate and accessible, the newly generated data and certificates are transferred back into the ASAM ODS server using its API.
Benefits
The integration of all components within the automated data workflow is facilitated by utilising the ASAM ODS standard, which simplifies connectivity. The approach ensures that data exchange between the various processing components is secure and reliable. This also fulfils the strict data governance requirements of the homologation process. The result is a more efficient, reliable and compliant workflow that streamlines the entire homologation process.
