What is openMDM®?

openMDM® is an open source framework for developing applications for measurement data management systems. The openMDM® project is hosted by the Eclipse Foundation and the development of these components is driven by the openMDM® Working Group. All components of the openMDM® framework are published under the Eclipse Public License.

Main features of openMDM®

High reusability: The various components of openMDM® can be used to create individual data management applications, which reduces development effort. Examples of these components are a predefined and extensible data model, UI components for data exploration and management, and predefined import and export functions - to only name a few.

Flexible extensibility: The framework can be easily extended and adapted to specific requirements, ensuring broad applicability. Based on open standards and interfaces, openMDM® ensures compatibility and interoperability with other systems.

Metadata management: openMDM® efficiently manages descriptive data (metadata) that is crucial for navigation, exploration, search and data comparison. In addition, the data model can be extended during the application's runtime so that it can be easily adapted to process changes and future test data management requirements.

Standardized data storage: openMDM® uses the ASAM ODS (Open Data Services) standard for data storage. This standard offers the necessary data modeling options and ensures future-proof and long-term data storage.

All these properties make openMDM® a robust and versatile framework for managing measurement data.
